Websites about making a living online with a website/web business are a dime a dozen in today’s world, so you’re probably wondering why the heck you should listen to anything I have to say on this blog, aren’t you? I don’t blame you…
I don’t really like talking about myself that much, but I know how important the “About” page is in building trust. Heck, it’s one of the first things I look for when I visit a site. If there’s not a real person behind a website or blog, I’m not likely to stick around long.
So, I’m going to take a stab at telling you about myself and why you might want to listen to me. While I’m not “THE” voice of experience online, I am A voice of experience. After all, I’ve been doing this since 1998! I made all the usual mistakes at first, but eventually, I got the hang of it. And I’m proud to say that I’ve been making a full-time living on the Web for the past 6 years!
I started out taking writing jobs on Elance.com and Guru.com. It was a good way to get started, but it wasn’t very lucrative. I also did some outsourced writing for a number of pharmaceutical communications firms. That was fairly lucrative, but it was still working for “the man”, albeit as an independent consultant. I longed for my very own online business.
Then, I found out about a company called Sitesell, that started out producing helpful eBooks about making a business online, but eventually launched their flagship product, a web business education and building product, called Site Build It (SBI). SBI was truly my ticket to success… eventually. Again, I made some mistakes (didn’t follow the system, picked the wrong niche, got distracted… and so on), but I did at last buckle down and do things right.
And my success was my reward! Powerful-Sample-Resume-Formats.com is my main money maker website, but I have 6 others in process on a variety of niches, including quick, easy dinner recipes. I’ve also tried the mini-site route and have a number of niche blogs filled with resell or private rights content that make the occasional dollar.
In addition, I have a little recipe card software that makes a few sales a month and a resell product on self defense that also brings in some money on a regular basis.
I’ve tried most online home business models, from affiliate marketing to MLM. About the only thing I’ve never tried is auctions. So, as I review and recommend products and services in the pages of this site, I hope you’ll listen to me and consider following my lead. I promise, I won’t lead you astray.
And, while the purpose of this website is obviously to make money, that is not to be at your expense. I am putting my honesty, ethics and reputation on the line here, so you can count on me.
